Reporting Maintenance Issues at an RV Park
April 18, 2026 · By Magnolia RV Park

When something breaks at an RV park, knowing how to report it gets it fixed faster. A leaking water spigot, a tripping pedestal breaker, a broken washer, or a damaged gate can affect your daily life and your neighbors. Clear, prompt reporting helps management respond efficiently and keeps the park in good shape for everyone.
This guide explains how to report maintenance issues at a long-term RV park, using our park’s process as an example. For an overview of how residents apply and move in, see our pillar on applying to a long-term RV park.
How to Report at Magnolia’s Finest
At our park, residents can submit maintenance requests using the maintenance request form on the Residents page. For urgent issues, you can also contact us at (281) 205-1959; text is preferred.
What Counts as Park Maintenance
Park maintenance typically covers shared and site infrastructure, such as:
- Water spigots and connections provided by the park
- Electrical pedestals
- Sewer inlets
- Shared amenities like the laundry room
- Gates and fencing
- Drives and common areas
- Lawn care, which the park handles
Your RV and its systems, such as your water heater, AC, or slide-outs, are your responsibility.
Never Fix Park Equipment Yourself
It may be tempting to fix a leaking spigot or reset a pedestal yourself, but tampering with hookups is not allowed at our park. DIY fixes can create safety hazards, damage equipment, or affect neighbors. Report the issue and let the park handle it.
Similarly, never run cords from other sites if your pedestal has a problem. That is also prohibited and can be dangerous.
What to Include in a Report
Clear details help management respond quickly:
- Your site number
- What the problem is
- When you noticed it
- Whether it is getting worse
- Photos if helpful
- Whether it affects safety
For example: “Site 4, water spigot has been dripping steadily since this morning. Photo attached. Not urgent, but water is pooling.”
Urgent vs. Non-Urgent Issues
Some issues need immediate attention:
- Electrical sparks, burning smells, or exposed wires
- Major water leaks
- Sewer backups
- Gate malfunctions that affect access or security
- Storm damage creating hazards
For urgent safety issues, call or text right away. For life-threatening emergencies, call 911 first.
Non-urgent issues, such as a slow dryer or a loose fence board, can go through the maintenance request form.
Laundry Room Issues
If a washer or dryer is not working, report it. Our post on shared laundry room etiquette covers other laundry courtesies. The laundry room has two washers and two dryers in an air-conditioned, cedar-paneled room.
Drives and Grounds
Report potholes, drainage problems, or damaged areas in drives. Remember that driving on the grass is not allowed, and the speed limit is 10 mph. Our post on speed limits and driving inside an RV park explains why.
Pests in Common Areas
If you notice pests in common areas, such as ants in the laundry room or signs of rodents, report them. Pest problems can spread between sites.
Storm Damage
After storms, report damaged fences, fallen branches, or hookup damage. Do not touch downed lines or damaged electrical equipment.
Be Patient and Follow Up
Some repairs require parts or professionals. If an issue is not resolved in a reasonable time, follow up politely.
Your Own RV Maintenance
Keeping your RV well maintained reduces problems that might affect park infrastructure. For example, a properly sealed sewer connection prevents odors and leaks.
Moving In
On move-in day, check your site’s hookups and report any issues right away. Our post on backing into your site on move-in day covers arrival.
Pets and Maintenance Visits
If maintenance staff need to access your site, keep pets inside and secured. Our post on pet-proofing an RV interior covers keeping pets safe.
Being a Good Neighbor
Reporting problems you notice, even at other sites or common areas, helps the whole community. A quick text about a broken gate or a leaking spigot can prevent bigger problems.
Documenting Issues
Keep a simple record of maintenance requests you submit, including the date, a short description, and any response. Photos taken when you first notice an issue can help management understand the problem and track changes. Records are also useful if the same issue recurs, since they show a pattern that may point to a larger underlying problem. Good documentation benefits both you and the park.
Respecting Staff and Contractors
When maintenance staff or contractors come to the park, give them space to work safely. Keep vehicles out of their way, supervise children and pets, and avoid interrupting unless necessary. A friendly attitude and clear communication make repairs go more smoothly and quickly. Remember that staff are working to keep the park comfortable for everyone.
Preventing Problems Before They Start
Many maintenance issues can be prevented with good habits. Use septic-safe products to protect the sewer system. Keep your site clear so staff can mow and inspect easily. Close gates properly behind you. Treat shared amenities with care. When residents take small preventive steps, the park spends less time on repairs and more time on improvements.
What Happens After You Report
After you submit a request, management reviews it and decides on next steps. Some issues can be handled quickly by park staff, while others require a licensed electrician, plumber, or appliance technician. Parts may need to be ordered. If a repair will take time, management may offer a temporary solution or let residents know what to expect. Staying patient and keeping communication friendly helps the process go smoothly.
Seasonal Maintenance Awareness
Certain issues are more common in certain seasons. Freezes can affect water spigots and exposed pipes. Summer heat strains electrical systems as everyone runs AC. Spring storms can damage fences and drives. Being aware of seasonal risks helps you notice and report problems early, before they affect you or your neighbors.
Communication Builds Trust
Good communication between residents and management builds trust. When residents report issues clearly and management responds promptly, everyone benefits. Residents feel heard, problems get fixed before they grow, and the park stays in good condition. In a small park like ours, that relationship is especially important. We appreciate residents who take the time to let us know when something needs attention, and we work to address requests as quickly as possible.
Keeping Your Own Records
It helps to keep a simple log of the requests you submit, including the date, a short description, and any follow-up. This makes it easy to reference past issues if a problem returns and gives you a clear timeline if you need to follow up with management.
